Biobeauty
Development of natural and sustainable supply chains for the cosmetic and nutraceutical industry
The project aims to develop new sustainable ingredients with high added value for the cosmetics and nutraceuticals markets.
ROELMI HPC starts from the eco-design of ingredients that can be derived from by-products of the food chain, which are no longer edible. In particular, traditionally Lombard raw materials, such as tomatoes, wine and rice, will be transformed with low environmental impact technologies. The main innovation will be linked to the use of probiotic strains owned by ROELMI HPC for the fermentation of biomass, with the target of launching new products. The sustainability of the project and the circular economy models implemented will be assessed through the LCA methodology.

FIRST2RUN HORIZON 2020

It aims at demonstrating the techno, economical and environmental sustainability at industrial scale of a first-of-kind value chain where low input and underutilized oil crops (i.e. cardoon) grown in arid and/or marginal lands and not in competition with food or feed, are exploited for the extraction of vegetable oils to be further converted into bio-monomers (mainly pelargonic and azelaic acids) as building blocks for high added value cosmetics.
NATURHA
It aims at producing new functional ingredients coming from non-edible plant matrixes combined with probiotic strains. Beneficial effects are studied to improve the immune system of elderly people affected by dysmetabolisms related to intestinal absorption and ineffective immune response.
